Jimmy Carter on the Number One Human Rights Abuse

    1. If we’re going to have this discussion it must be factual. Jesus Christ – if he existed; there is no historical proof and I find it odd that such an important man didn’t even warrant a footnote in the works compiled by first-century philosophers and historians – didn’t give two fish about women’s rights. In Matthew 5: 17-18, Jesus is credited with saying, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke or a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Jesus was instructing those present to follow the old law to the letter. According to the Old Law, women were nothing more than chattel. Unborn lives are not subjugated. The fetus is not a human child, but your interpretation of this matter is one that is based on your religious beliefs, and as such, should be not be enforced on those with beliefs differing from your own.

      1. K. S., the four gospels are historical documents that were written by the followers of Jesus Christ during their lifetime and so were most of Paul’s Epistles. All of these documents r backed up by archaeological evidence in ancient manuscript.
The earliest historical writings that Alexander the Great existed is from 400 years after he died. If we feel we know anything about Alexander the Great we should be infinitely more share what we know about Jesus Christ

                This is quite adolescent.

“Cthulhu is a fictional cosmic entity created by writer H. P. Lovecraft and first introduced in the short story “The Call of Cthulhu”, published in the pulp magazine Weird Tales in 1928. Considered a Great Old One within the pantheon of Lovecraftian cosmic entities, the creature has since been featured in numerous popular culture references. Lovecraft depicts Cthulhu as a gigantic entity worshiped by cultists. Cthulhu’s anatomy is described as part octopus, part man, and part dragon. Its name was given to the Lovecraft-created universe where it and its fellow entities existed, the Cthulhu Mythos.”

Here is a link to a debate between Bart Ehrman and a well known Christian scholar on this subject.

Too often personal feelings short circuit a person’s investigation of truth.
I’ve found that the person who wants to avoid the truth is usually successful.

If you feel God has dissipointed you, He hasn’t.
Life is tough, still God came down to be one of us and pay for our unrighteousness Himself.

                    1. My lack of belief isn’t tragedy based but rooted in the fact that there is no evidence to warrant a belief in any god, not just yours. Debates and creed books are not evidence. Show me concrete evidence that your god exists. I’ve studied the bible, read it thoroughly, many times, and have studied other faiths. In my personal investigation of the truth, I applied scientific understanding to the bible and found the latter to be grossly lacking. I even went as far to speculate that the darkness mentioned in Gen. 1:1 could be dark matter. I looked at the evolution of man and applied various scripture to determine if faith and science could stand together supporting the various stages of human development. I opened my mind to the philosophy of those around me whose beliefs were different from my own because I felt that if my faith was sound, it would hold up to scientific analysis and critical examination. It didn’t. But if you could produce one scrap of evidence (creed books, debates, sermons, these fall under the realm of circular logic and only further cognitive dissonance)then I would be forced to reexamine my lack of belief.

                      Just one?
                      Really?
I would wish that were only true, because if it was you already have far more than one scrap of evidence.
Its in you and all around you. From the utmost of scientific knowledge at the core of our being to the inexplicable awe and wonder of all creation, everything around us resonates within us to such a degree that one must compromise the integrity of the intellect in order to deny the God who is.

I’ve been working on this for a while.
Its a draft I intend to post soon.

I wrote it to try to share what I see as proof for God’s existence.
I believe the strongest evidence is personal, yet inductive at best. I don’t think deductive evidence can win the typical human heart. Otherwise what we know about DNA would do that.

If you are just bitter at God for the hardships of this world, then chances are you just want to reject God because you feel He has rejected you.
Then no amount of logic and reason will ever help you. You are a slave and captive your own bitterness.
A Christian knows the Jesus suffered and died for us. Jesus suffered rejection that we cannot begin to imagine. This should tell us that at the very least God is Not indifferent to suffering since he suffered anf died for us, and conquered death for us.

Here is the one scrap of evidence. It is strong inductive evidence. Few things are entirely deductive, even in science.

                      DNA.
                      God’s signature in you cells.
Information with order, like our scientific community hopes to find coming from the cosmos above, only it is in you, the cosmos within.

No scientific model exists in natural selection that shows the addition of information, let alone one that would equate to 3.2 billion bits of genetic information code in every strand of human DNA. You are that evidence, inside every cell in your body.

                      Christ Centered Teaching,

I’ve watched this dialog play out and knowing Kimberly more than capable of defending herself I’ve stayed out of it. However, you’ve persisted in your passive/aggressive behavior to the point where I’m compelled to say something. I quote your sentence above as an example of your rather nasty temperament. You paper it over with professions of Christian neighborliness, but nevertheless spew thinly veiled aggression against someone who doesn’t share your religious views.

The problem with you seemingly pious purveyors of your faith is that you feel free to attack the deeply held beliefs of others, but most people are loath to attack your own shallow attempts at understanding life’s meaning. We refrain from it generally because unlike you religious “true believers,” our lives are not dependent upon clinging to superstition in order to stave off our own fear of living. Because you cling to your faith so dear we have the compassion and empathy to not want to burst the rather flimsy bubble of your religious belief.

On the other hand, you religious zealots are so mesmerized by your faith that you arrogate to yourselves the right to denigrate what others believe. And yes, I understand what Gospel means and why many Christians feel compelled to foist their beliefs on others, with the phony pretense of saving souls. The naked truth about these attempt to “spread the Gospel” is that it is really about showing your personal superiority over those who “don’t believe”.

This is clearly shown in your non-responsiveness to what Kimberly has presented as the topic of this post. Your first comment on this thread shows that you intend to hijack it for your own purposes, thus showing incidentally your disrespect for the author, who is of course a woman.

“Women’s rights were huge to Jesus Christ. But when women subjugate the unborn lives inside them, resulting in their deaths, the biggest victims are those who are then children who they kill.”

You think yourself clever in turning the topic towards what you want to state, but your switch is a totally obvious move to get to your message, which incidentally is nonsensical. The biggest victims of your anti-abortion cult are the women and the doctors you persecute in your ill-founded crusade to let the State take over the control of women’s bodies. The reality of your piously hypocritical “movement,” is your Christian disgust with women’s sexuality and women’s autonomy. You hypocrites pretend to care about the fetus, but that “care” is shown to be a lie when after birth, the politicians you elect do nothing to ensure that the child once born will be adequately cared for. Though you can’t admit it publicly, or perhaps to yourselves as well, you don’t really give a damn about that baby except as a symbol of your punishing the mother for having sex unsanctioned by you male dominated religion.

I could go on, but why bother, when you have proven yourself incapable of having an honest dialog.

So my Godless Blessings upon you Christ Centered Teachings, as you cling so fearfully to a faith that only promises you relief in a fairyland after you die and yet feel so smugly arrogant in your false humility.

                    8. Mike,
She’s an author of at least three books, all dealing with battle with the demonic. I’m sure I’ve either struck a nerve with you, or you think she can’t deal with the subject alone. I , on the other hand, have no doubts she can defend her position herself. This is obvious.
But just as I’m sure God is real, I’m equally sure the demonic is real.
These are not trivial matters. Women’s rights are perhaps the most important issue behind the unborn simply because the greater power always abuses the lesser. The most powerless are the unborn.
Let those who are born defend the unborn, whether male or female, but never fall for the deception that any has a right over the other, even if female. That is the hierarchy philosophy Darwin perpetrated on the world and which inspired Hitler’s supreme race ideology he used to justify killing Jews. Pure evil.

                      http://www.telegraph.co.uk

Human life begins in bright flash of light as a sperm meets an egg, scientists have shown for the first time, after capturing the astonishing ‘fireworks’ on film.

An explosion of tiny sparks erupts from the egg at the exact moment of conception.

Scientists had seen the phenomenon occur in other animals but it is the first time is has been also shown to happen in humans.

“To see the zinc radiate out in a burst from each human egg was breathtaking.” Professor Teresa Woodruff, Northwestern University

Not only is it an incredible spectacle, highlighting the very moment that a new life begins, the size of the flash can be used to determine the quality of the fertilised egg.”

Note the word LIFE. What is human life if not a person?
You were once at this point . I was once there also. From the very first moment for everyone, life is a marvelous thing. And the very first moment when fertilization takes place is, for the scientists who have witnessed it, almost miraculous to behold. A flash of light. We can explain it chemically, but there is also in this discovery “one scrap” of transcendence. A hint of something more that even Francis Crick acknowledged. “Almost a miracle “, in his words. Hawking and others have all made comments that hint to this element of “something more” in their, or through their observations.
And that is the point Kimberly. The signature of the Creator is both all around us and at the core of our being.

Instead you’ve ignored the points being made in service of your own fillibuster. You were the one who made abortion the issue, so that you could make your inane points flacking your shallow religious beliefs. You have projected upon others anger and hostility, when it is you that is an angry and hostile person. The burden of proof is on you CCT, and proof of a creator isn’t a flash of light, a beautiful planet, or the wonders of nature. Your proof must be something that can be tested and retested with the same result. That’s evidence. That’s proof. That’s the era you live in now. An age of science and technology wherein there is little room for myth and magic.

                    18. Kimberly,
In regards to your question, “Who created the Creator in light of the Law of Conservation of Energy.
Your question makes two attempts to frame the question in order to get the answers you appear to want.
The problem is that the question is deeply flawed.
God is uncreated, timeless, His power and wisdom are boundless. God is, by human measure, supernatural and infinite.

To require the supernatural infinite fit into our finite laws of nature is both irrational and illogical.

The concept of God is that of a supernatural being who created everything,  has limitless power and knowledge, and logically, since He created the laws of nature, is not subject to such laws, but they are subject to Him. In short, God can do by nature what we consider to be miraculous. And therefore man’s insistence that God’s supernatural existence should meet natural criteria is in itself an irrational endeavor.

God is “Outside the Box” of Criterion We Use to Measure His Existence.
In fact, God created “the Box” and everything in it, with all the Laws of physics and nature. The laws of nature are subject to God, but God is not subject to the Laws of nature. In terms of criteria , God is outside the box of scientific means for evaluation. Our rules don’t apply to Him, but His rules apply to our realm, because He created them.

I see that you don’t believe in a woman’s choice. That’s fine. However, the government does. Abortion is legal. There’s not a single passage in the bible that condemns fetal abortion. In fact, the Abrahamic God routinely killed babies. So given the bible’s silence on this issue and given that your own deity slaughtered babies by the thousands, it seems your real issue with abortion is in a woman’s right to have control of her own reproductive rights. https://scontent-atl3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t34.0-12/13140537_1023591901036123_921440589_n.jpg?oh=cb81620dfbd51e1e4d0d443ca2f92ec3&oe=572BEA43

                    22. I condemn your god for sanctioned rape, murder, war, genocide, slavery, and the murder of children. Christians defend these acts and say that God was trying to drive wicked people away from the Israelites so according to your religion, your god ordered the Israelites to invade nations, killing, raping, and pillaging as they desired and this was all to keep Israelite morals from being tarnished and to teach morals to future sinners.

I expect this argument from people who are incapable of personal accountability for the fucking sake of it as opposed to morality being controlled by a supernatural force of evil that tempts one to commit heinous crimes, or worse, a divine and pure being who advocates atrocious acts and human depravity under the guise of attaining genetic perfection for one race. I look at all the hardships faced by humanity and if I were god I would stop it, yet your god doesn’t. He created the evil if your creed book is to be believed.

You have yet to even address any point brought up by myself or others commenting. You have yet to address the historical nature of abortion and how it’s only recently been an issue of morality for the church. You have yet to address the fact that your own god didn’t care about abortion. You have yet to address your misogynistic views toward women. I’ve grown bored with this discussion and won’t participate until you can address at least one of these points. You can’t use religious beliefs to support your anti-abortion agenda, which leaves an agenda that’s founded on a patriarchal hatred of women and the suppressing of women’s rights.

Miscarriage is abortion and you fundamentalists would have women thrown in jail for miscarrying a child. You reject the personhood of women only to turn your back on a child once it’s born. You don’t care about humanity. The video this post is about discusses abuse against women. You jumped right over all of that to fire off about abortion with your lopsided arguments and twisted logic. You’re ignoring the abuse and violence women face every day to focus on the unborn. You’ve insulted my integrity. You’ve mocked my writings. You’ve debased my work on this site by sexualizing me and eluding that the only reason certain men are commenting must be because of a sexual relationship or something of that nature. I’ve been nice. I’ve listened to your arguments. I’ve been professional. You have no respect for me (or any woman I imagine). There is nothing left to discuss here, CCT. I won’t be further disrespected on my own site. Move on.

A strawman would be someone like yourself that hides your identity by using a generic alias. A strawman would be someone who is so weak emotionally that they need the crutch of an omnipotent being to be able to face living. A strawman is the public face of a misogynistic belief that hates and demeans women by pretending to save them. A strawman is someone like yourself preaching the bigotry of religious certainty because non-belief threatens your tenuous faith. Your pathetic weakness as a human being would deserve sympathy and pity, were you not such a smug and angry defender of pure superstition.

Have a really blessed day. 🙂

You and Planned Parenthood are using the same convoluted logic the Hitler and the Nazis used on Jews. Hitler called Jews sub-human in order to justify his evil genocide and killed 12 million people as a result.
Only Planned Parenhood has far outdone Hitler with 55 mollion dead.
Planned Parenthood does the same thing. Instead of saying the pregnant morher is “With Child” , they perpetrate the notion she is “with fetus”, a ball of cells. This is to reduce life and humanity to the same level as garbage, fit only to be disposed of.
Such an outlook is in itself inhuman.
So yes, this subject calls justifiably for more than pious pacivity.
Jimmy Carter was the worste president ,until recently ,and it is unfortunate for all of us that he has made it his such a statement while it is being used to perpetrate murder against the unborn.

                  Christ Centered Teaching,

You just go on spouting your hate and your nonsense. A little history for you, though I suspect that to you history exists only as allowed by whatever false prophet you follow.

Throughout perhaps the last fifty thousand years of human history, official pair bonding between men and women was a political, or business arrangement, depending upon but divorced from sexuality. The Western World’s concept of love as the basis for marriage and procreation has served as a guiding concept for only the last two hundred years of human history and only became dominant since the birth of the 20th Century. This is because up until then the belief was that women were chattel, whose virginity was to be yielded only for a price. It was a “male centric” view that was encouraged and reinforced by all major religions, where patriarchal beliefs dominated. Virginity was both a necessity and prerequisite of religion and male dominance. As a matter of control, religion put a premium on women’s virginity and their children’s legitimacy. The concept of legitimacy both controlled a women’s sexuality and helped reinforce marriage as a business deal done for the benefit of the family, rather than the child.

The most influential Christian institution, The Roman Catholic Church, had mixed feelings about abortion up until a great apocalypse befell all of Europe. Up until that apocalypse, the RCC accepted the Aristotelian view that a child was not alive until its soul entered it and the Jewish concept of that ensoulment came with the child’s first breath. To be sure in the 5th Century CE St. Augustine vigorously condemned all termination of pregnancy, but he differentiated between a “formed” and “unformed” fetus. Then again this Saint believed that sexuality in pursuit of pleasure was a SIN and so was a man’s erection. However, Augustine blamed that arousal on the woman and his recommendations to prevent such sins were to place controls on women, using Eve’s temptation of Adam as his biblical rationale. Yet despite that, The Roman Catholic Church dealt with abortion rather vaguely up until that apocalypse I mentioned above, which was the Black Death which peaked in Europe between 1348 and 1350. Overall estimates today are that about 45 to 50% of the European population died, ranging from 80% in Italy down to 20% in Italy.

The decimation of that many people led to chaos and it is no coincidence that The Roman Catholic Church responded to this crisis by threatening excommunication for those partaking in abortion by instituting Canon 1398 of the Code of Canon Law . The RCC was starved for funds because it had lost almost half its membership and one of their alternatives was to not only outlaw abortion, but to redouble its efforts to discourage birth control. Although the RCC has always been intricately involved in the politics of power since it’s inception as an arm of the Roman Emperor Constantine, its primary weapon has always been through its definition of “sin” and its power to condemn those who displease it to a fiery Hell. The Hell part has always been quite effective because all of us humans have a degree of a fear of death, that would be heightened by the prospect of spending an eternity of torture and flames. But what does that have to do with today?

Our human natures are such, especially those of authoritarian mind, to believe that the religion, the mores, the mythology and the ethics we grow up with are eternal expressions of human truth. I present only a brief history to disabuse ourselves of the notion that abortion has always been viewed as wrong by society and has always been illegal. Abortion became illegal by statute in England in 1803 and this was a codification of English Common Law as described by James Wilson who was a framer of the U.S. Constitution:

CCT, to hear you spout your ill informed drivel one would think that abortion was condemned by Jesus himself. The truth is that Jesus as a man stream Pharisee Rabbi would have followed the Jewish conception that life begins at birth, but you unfortunately are too ignorant of your religion’s history to know it.

The definition that life begins at conception, a precept of the anti-abortion movement, is a relatively recent one, that I believe has been advanced for a far different agenda than is claimed. That they have advanced their cause well can not be disputed, but then McDonald’s has advanced the cause of selling crappy, unhealthy hamburgers well also, yet we don’t provide them any moral authority. I believe that the Anti-Abortion Movement is really a reaction to the changes that the Women’s Suffrage Movement first made towards the emancipation of women from the burden of patriarchy. It is a subject, that as a father of daughters I come back to time and again, because I proudly state that I am a Feminist, who not only believes in women’s equality, but also strongly suspects women’s superiority to my sex.

There exists today, as never before, the means to make abortion unnecessary, yet there is an almost one to one correlation between those opposed to abortion and those against sex education, birth control and women’s equality. It is they that are encouraging abortions and they do so out of ignorance and stupidity.

The 1960′s marked a great change in this country regarding sexuality and women’s autonomy, threatening the male patriarchy of this country. The authoritarians were not only shaken to their core, but threatened by the ramifications to their own sexuality. Those preachers and politicians who used sexuality as a “bogeyman” to maintain power, reacted strongly to the threat of losing their power and their livelihood. Thus was the anti-abortion/anti- female sexuality movements born and one must give them credit in discovering their meme “right to life”. The reality though is the sad, but true cliche, that for these people “right to life” ends at birth. It is the central hypocrisy of their argument that disturbs me, because I believe that their power left unchecked will set human progress back to a new Dark Age.

That is who you are Christ Centered Teaching, a person so ignorant in their beliefs about the history of those beliefs, that you are willing to return this country to the Dark Ages of history. The saddest part of your ignorance is that you are merely a tool that is being used by men who are grasping for power and wealth and using the ignorant superstitions of those like yourself to advance their cause. I pity you in your perversity of world view and in your sad fear of the power of women and their sexuality. In your smug feelings of pious superiority, you don’t realize what a pathetic individual you are.

                  Blessings.

                  .

I’m not home, so I’m writing on my phone and so can’t link. It’s on my blog titled ” believe in abortion” which you can get using the search function and with it there are others dealing with abortion and related materials. I didn’t link it originally because I try not to go on other sites to promote my own. When I comment on a site like yours , it’s because I admire your writing, not as self promotion.

Clearly I’ve struck the proverbial nerve here.
You should ask yourself why you are really upset.”

                      CCT,

Yes I call your anti-abortion, anti-Women, pro poverty movement hateful and I even explained why, though I suspect that you are incapable of even dealing with anything that would deny your faith. As far as angry, no I’m not in the least angry, mostly I’m amused at your writings here. I’m so sorry that is disappointing to you, since the object of your passive-aggressive behavior is to try to upset people. You are looking for that “upset” as a way to feed the sadist within you. As far as thinking you are capable of actually debating anyone who follows Kimberly’s blog, that is delusional and probably the result of those demons that live in your head.

                    2. CCT,

You can’t ally yourself with the anti-abortion movement and consider
yourself on board with women’s rights. You can pretend to, as you are doing here, but the truth is you want to take a most personal decision out of a woman’s hands. You and your allies are hypocrites and by any true terms un-Godly, but too dumb to know it.

As much as I hate to admit it Donald Trump was right, being against abortion is punishing women. On top of that, it is about wanting government to interfere with women’s sexuality. Now you have a personal right not to get an abortion yourself and also a right to request others to voluntarily not get abortions. But you don’t have a right to dictate to those who don’t share your silly, un-historic beliefs what they should do with their own bodies.

The reality though about all of this, is that the highest rates of unwed mothers are in the Bible Belt of this country. This is why people like you try so hard to get abortion outlawed, because obviously your children aren’t listening to your religious nonsense and are having sex. When they do people like you, the ones full of anger and passive/aggressive behavior, try to punish them. There are of course more children hungry and more children in poverty in your bible belt states, another measure of the silliness of your beliefs and how far you’ve strayed from the preaching of Jesus.

                      Have a blessed day. 🙂

                    6. Mike, it is exactly that kind of thinking that has reduced the value of life to the point that partial birth abortion came into being. In case you’re not familiar with the procedure a child can go to full term it is pulled three-quarters of the way and rotated face down with its head still inside the woman’s body so that it can technically be considered on born and then surgical scissors are inserted behind the base of the skull and it ripped out the spine. It is a horrific murder Herbalife and it has been brought about by the reduction of the sanctity of life but those who claim they have a right over their own body even to kill another body.

                      http://www.telegraph.co.uk

        1. No they weren’t they were written 100’s of years after their death and they weren’t even used to when writing the KJV. The KJV was just translated from an earlier version of the bible and manipulated by the king and parliament to control their subjects, we have NO original writings and there have been so many versions that no one could possibly know if any of it’s true or just made up for peoples own agenda but a person with logic knows the truth due to all the inaccuracies like the earth being flat. Besides it’s all moot because even what we do have, no where does it say it’s the word of god or infallible and don’t try to liberally construe 2nd Timothy, you know ‘inspired by’ does not mean ‘dictated’. I can be inspired by a tree or a sunset to write a poem but that does not mean it’s the trees words.

    2. Have you even read the bible? Nowhere in the bible does it condemn abortion that is just something contemporary religion made up because they thrive on trying to control other people. Actually there are many verses condoning abortion, killing women, misogyny, patriarchy, ect. The list goes on and on. I don’t know what your purpose is here but I’m going to let you in on a little secret, most atheist were former christians and they have thoroughly studied the bible. Whereas 90% of christians in America have never read the bible. So we know the bible way better that’s why we became atheist. If you would actually read it instead of being a fake christian you would see that it’s nothing more than a book written by men to ease the fear of dying and to control people. Furthermore, due to the fact that we do know so much about religion you don’t stand a chance in changing our mind unless you can come up with some new evidence that’s never been seen before, so that being said if you continue it just shows that you want to argue with people for no reason which is pretty pathetic.

This is Biblical proof that the unborn are people that you may not have been aware of.

  1. Thank you, Mike!!! I sat down to type out a rather blunt response to CCT and after reading your comment was relieved and grateful for your intervention, which was spot on, by the way. I had noticed that CCT has avoided the men commenting on this post and on What Every Theist Should Know About Antitheists while also avoiding the actual topics, all but challenging you and James in the comments like it was a schoolyard brawl. CCT’s circular logic is dizzying and that passive aggressiveness towards women is coming through loud and clear. Thank you for responding and for doing it so thoroughly. 😉
